Pursuit of Excellence in Pathology
The Arundhati Tambwekar Award for Excellence in Pathology
Introduction of the Award at the PG Convocation 2014 by Vice Principal Dr. Joy Sarojini Michael.
This prize is instituted in the memory of late Dr Arundhati Sanjay Tambwekar, MBBS, and former post graduate student in the Dept of Transfusion Medicine and Immunohematology, CMC, Vellore.
Her academic brilliance during her undergraduate tenure as a medical student at the Sri DevarajUrs Medical College, Kolar, is evidenced by her being the best outgoing student of her graduating batch. Striving and seeking excellence, she always gave her best, and was passionate about every activity she did – be it art, dance, or academics. She joined CMC as a post graduate in Apr 2014.
Her brief time here was characterized by not just excellence in her work and a thirst for knowledge, but by her gentleness and spontaneity in her interactions with her colleagues, the staff, and the patients she came in contact with. Her kind and gracious disposition specially touched the medical students she tutored during her posting in the department. Celebrating a brilliant, wonderful, and gentle life, and to encourage these very qualities that she stood for, this award instituted by Arundhati’s family, will keep the values and passion that she followed in her life alive – alive not just in memory, but also in deed.
In keeping with the “striving for excellence” that characterized her life, her family has instituted this prize to foster and recognize the excellence in academic work in the field of Pathology, Laboratory Medicine, and Transfusion Medicine; with the wish that this award be not an end, but an encouragement to the pursuit of excellence.
