Dhwani : The Sounds Of Life!

Dhwani : The Sounds Of Life!

One of the programs that we run through The ARUNDHATI Foundation is Dhwani.  Dhwani means sound in Sanskrit. Through this program we help hearing impaired individuals improve their quality of life. We do this by donating hearing aids , maintaining hearing aids or proving speech therapy.

We support The Sheila Kothavala Institute (SKID). This institute was started in 1967 through philanthropic efforts and is perhaps the only such private institute in Bangalore. The institute runs classes for hearing impaired children from LKG to Standard Ten. The teachers here are extremely dedicated and very emotionally invested with the progress of their children. We have been associated with this institute for quite some time now. Our partners in this venture is Hearfon Systems Pvt Ltd run by Mr Krishna Kumar and Ms Jayanthi who first helped us connect with them.

This year the school helped us chose little Ankitha for receiving hearing aid. Ankitha is class LKG student of this school. The day we went to fit the aid for Ankitha, she walked in holding the hand of Ms Suvasini, who teaches lip reading. Once the aids were fitted and little Ankitha heard sounds perhaps for the first time in her life , the confusion turned into a dazzling smile. She grinned for ear to ear. It was extremely touching for all of us, including Ms Jayanthi of Hearfon to see this.

It’s moments like these that make us feel so grateful for being a medium to bring a small change in the lives of individuals. Sharing a few photos of little Ankitha with the necessary permissions.
